Dakota County Public Health has updated its radon test kit program. Beginning April 6, 2026, radon test kits will now cost $10 each. County residents may purchase up to five kits per visit using credit card, check, or exact cash.
Where to pick up test kits:
Electronic versions of Dakota County’s radon information rack card are available for use on digital platforms. Printed copies can also be dropped off for lobby display upon request.
Why test for radon?Radon is a colorless, odorless gas naturally found in soil. It can enter homes and buildings and accumulate to levels that increase the risk of lung cancer. Radon is the number one cause of lung cancer among nonsmokers and the second-leading cause for smokers. Testing is the only way to know the radon level in your home.
