About
Lakeville Area Art Center's rich 25-year history has inspired creativity and fostered a strong legacy of high-quality art and community engagement. It is the pre-eminent location for entertainment in the Lakeville area and a destination for artists and performers from all over Minnesota.
The Lakeville Area Arts Center promotes cultural enrichment and artistic experiences for the community by providing an environment that fosters creative expression and offers a myriad of artistic and educational opportunities.
The Lakeville Area Arts Center (LAAC) was established in 2001 when a former church was transformed into a fully equipped arts facility now known as the Performing Arts Building (PAB). In 2023, LAAC expanded with the acquisition of the Fine Arts Building (FAB), further strengthening its role as a regional hub for arts and culture.
The Performing Arts Building (PAB) features a 300-seat theater with flexible seating, professional lighting, projection, and sound. The building also includes a bi-level professional gallery, rehearsal and meeting rooms, greenrooms, prop and costume storage, a conference room, and administrative offices. Surrounding the PAB is a park-like outdoor sculpture walk that hosts multiple community events each year, including an annual art festival.
The Fine Arts Building (FAB) is an 11,000-square-foot facility dedicated to visual arts education and creation. It includes three fully equipped ceramics studios, a glazing room, five electric kilns, and dedicated classrooms for glass, fiber arts, and painting. The FAB also offers two rehearsal spaces, student galleries, and an on-site Art Shop.
Expanding beyond its campus located on Holyoke Ave, LAAC also includes the Casperson Performance Stage, an outdoor amphitheater equipped with sound and lighting systems. Located in Lakeville’s Casperson Park, this outdoor venue is home to Live at the Lake and has a view of beautiful Lake Marion.
