  1. Coffee Concert No. 4: Chamber Music Society of Minnesota

    The Chamber Music Society of Minnesota, described as “A jewel in the state’s cultural crown,” presents a free livestream performance of Dvorak's Piano Quintet #2 and Mozart's Clarinet Quintet.

    Due to COVID-19 restrictions limiting gatherings to 10 or fewer people, the Lakeville Area Arts Center will not be able to accomodate an onsite audience. The only way to attend the concert is via the livestream on Facebook (link is on the right).

    Tax-deductible, freewill donations can be made in support of the Coffee Concert series at lakevilleartscenterfriends.org/donate

    This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

    The Minnesota Highway Safety & Research Center conducts driver safety classes at the Heritage Center. Drivers 55+ may be eligible for a 10% discount on their auto insurance. An 8-hour course is initially required, followed by a 4-hour refresher class every three years.   2. Nature Walk

    Ann Messerschmidt, Lakeville’s Environmental Resources Specialist, will lead this leisurely walk around Valley Lake. It’s an easy route with little elevation change, but you will be surprised by the many different types of gardens. Ann will share plant information about the rain garden, shoreline restorations, two pollinator gardens and the lake. The casual, low-intensity walk will be approximately one mile on an asphalt trail.   2. Community Parade for Class of 2020 and Other Missed Celebrations

    Lakeville Area Schools and the City of Lakeville are partnering to provide a community parade Saturday, June 6 in celebration of the graduating Class of 2020 and all other celebrations that have been missed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

    The public is welcome to find a spot along the parade route, but must practice safe social distancing. Family units should stay at least 6 feet apart from one another. The parade route is 10 miles long, which intentionally provides plenty of room for proper social distancing.

    The parade will include Lakeville Area Schools officials, the Lakeville Police Department’s School Resource Officers, Lakeville Fire Department, Police Department and Schmitty and Sons Bus Company will have several fire trucks, police squads and school buses in the parade. The Minnesota Army National Guard is providing several military vehicles as well as a B-25 flyover from the Commemorative Air Force.

    Golden Ridge Stables in Lakeville offers a 5-hour day camp designed to give riders a fun-filled day of experience with reliable school horses. This program is sure to create lasting memories. Children will discover how to safely work with their horse on the ground, as well as on its back in a “hands- and seat-on” environment. In addition, the camper will play games and make a treasured keepsake. Because participation is limited to only eight riders, each child will get individualized attention, a structured riding lesson and learn fun and interesting things about their horse. For safety reasons, participants must be physically and cognitively able to ride a horse on their own. Participants are required to wear jeans and boots; riders will not be allowed to ride in tennis shoes. Helmets provided. Bring water, a snack and lunch.
