-
The law requires a child who is both under age 8 and shorter than 4'9" to be fastened in a child safety seat or booster. Infants under 20 pounds and age 1 must be in a rear-facing safety seat. Booster seats and other child restraint/safety seats must be installed according to manufacturer's instructions. Car seat checks are available at multiple locations. Visit the Minnesota Department of Public Safety website for a list of locations.
The Minnesota Department of Public Safety website is a good resource for more information. It contains details about the law, how to install car seats and more.
Additional resources include your child safety restraint manual, the manufacturer’s website, your vehicle manual, the U.S. Department of Transportation website and Safe Kids Worldwide.
