CenterPoint Energy Upgrades to Gas Pipeline System Along 165th Street West and Ipava Avenue

If you have questions about this project, contact CenterPoint Energy, rather than the City of Lakeville. There are several ways to contact CenterPointmap of gas line work being done by CenterPoint Energy Opens in new window Energy:

CenterPoint Energy is continuing to upgrade their pipeline system. The Lakeville segment is planned for a single construction season due to the new alignment of the pipeline. The original line was primarily installed in 1939. It serves Lakeville, Burnsville and other South Metro suburban areas. The new route was chosen to reduce roadway issues, break up traffic control and minimize direct access points, driveways and parking lots, making local access easier. The route primarily follows 205th Street West, Ipava Avenue and 165th Street West.

This is open trench excavation. Construction is done on a few blocks at a time, varying from lane shifts to full closures. Access is maintained for residents and businesses. Restoration is followed closely behind pipe replacement crew and trenches are closed at night. Areas disturbed by CenterPoint Energy’s construction will be restored to the original condition, including streets, sidewalks, boulevards and lawns.

Thank you for your patience while construction is taking place. Replacing aging infrastructure is an important but difficult task. Remember all businesses will remain open along the work area.

Road Closure: A section of southbound Ipava Avenue will be shifted from 175th Street West to 185th Street West to improve timing and safety for CenterPoint Energy’s gasline installation in Lakeville. The lane shift is slated to last until September 16, 2022. However, both northbound and southbound traffic will be maintained during this time period.
