Keep the kids up late and experience Ritter Farm Park after hours! We’ll begin with a campfire and s’mores. Lakeville Environmental Resources staff will teach you to identify the songs and looks of different frog species. A nighttime hike through the woods will let you use your new-found knowledge and all your senses to discover frogs (maybe even spring peepers!), owls, bugs and other creatures of the night. You’ll see night in a whole new light! Don’t forget your flashlight! Meet at the fire pit.

An introduction to STEM careers and skills in animal science while playing with stuffed bunnies and REAL rabbits. Learning opportunities include measuring height, weight and length, checking vital signs, basic first-aid to a paw, healthy diets, measuring water and feed, looking into a microscope and holding a bunny safely. Join researchers from the North Central Bird Observatory for an up-close and personal look at local and migrant wild birds. In this ongoing research project, the public will observe the capture of birds using mist nets and the collection of data including placing identifying bands on the birds. Birds are then released back into the wild. It’s a great way for families to learn about the science of bird banding. Event will take place rain or shine.
